About American Hearing Centers, Inc.

Two generations of the Mills family make up the staff of American Hearing Centers: Troy Mills and his son Brian, our hearing instrument specialists. Hearing healthcare is more than just our livelihood—it’s our shared passion and what our family’s name is tied to. We work together as a team to treat every single patient with the same loving care we would use for our own family. As our patient, you can be confident that your hearing health and your happiness are our top concern. We collaborate with each other to give you continuity of care every time you come see us, so there’s never anything for you to worry about.

Patients tell us they look forward to seeing us because they trust us to be friendly, supportive, and good at truly listening to what they need. Drop by either of our offices and you can see their honest reviews for yourself. We keep a notebook of reviews in the lobby, and we are thrilled to know that we’ve made such a difference for so many people.

Meet our Specialists

Troy Mills, BC-HIS

Hearing instrument specialist Troy Mills got his start in the field of hearing in the early 1980s as a representative for a small manufacturer in San Diego. But even then, he was driven to find the best hearing aids for patients, and he knew he needed the freedom to do what he felt was right, not what someone else told him to do. He wanted to be able to make a difference for patients as a hearing aid dispenser himself, and he wanted to know he was providing them with the best technology available.

That’s why Troy started American Hearing Centers as an independent practice in 1983. He opened his first location in Ashtabula and raised his family here. It’s been more than three decades, but he still loves seeing the look on a patient’s face when they first realize how much their hearing aids are helping. Working with hearing aids is an incredibly satisfying career because he knows every day he’s improving the quality of someone’s life.

Brian Mills, HIS

Brian joined the practice in 2016. He moved back to the area from California after several successful business ventures. He relocated back to Ohio with his wife and children to continue the Mills family tradition of providing customers with superior hearing healthcare. “Helping people enjoy life again to the fullest is my passion. I hope to take over American Hearing Centers and some day pass it on to my own son.”
